Our Product Ranges

In the Suitor Gallery, we sell products that we like and know are good quality and value.

In kitchenware, for instance, we will use (or have used) most of those products in our own kitchens here and at home. If they don't do what they are supposed to, we won't sell them, and will return them to the supplier.

Many other product ranges are a direct reflection of styles and tastes that we love, and we hope you'll love them too!

Privacy

We collect no personal information from you, except what you volunteer.

For instance, you may use the contact form to ask us something. In order to respond, we need your email address.

When you browse suitorgallery.com, we record the ip address that you connect from. This is the internet connection that you are connecting from, and is made public by your computer.

The ip address does not provide any personal information about you, just how you are connecting to suitorgallery.com. The ip address is recorded so that we can identify any attempts to misuse the site.

When your browser connects to suitorgallery.com, it tells the site which browser and operating system you are using. We need this information to properly format pages for your browser version.

We use this information to improve our understanding of your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, fax or mail. We may use the information to customise the website according to your interests.

As a matter of good security practise, we do not retain any card details on suitorgallery.com

During checkout, card details are immediately and securely passed to our online payment partner, and then removed from our system.

While this means that you have to enter your card details every time you complete checkout, it is more secure. For example, if you gave your computer to a third party, they might be able to use your account to make purchases, if your card details were stored on any website, for which you had an account on your computer..

The only personal information we pass to any third party is the information required to complete an online transaction. Card details, cardholder name and address are passed to our online payment partner.

No other personal information is passed on to any third party.

We do use anonymized and aggregated non-personal data to carry out analyses of site usage patterns, and this may be processed off-site.

Cookies are a small text file that store non personal details. Every browser supports them.

There are two types:-

  1. Session Cookies: These are maintained for the duration of time (and for a short period of time afterwards) that you are browsing suitorgallery.com. These provide authentication for the secure connection between your computer and suitorgallery.com, and are required. When using a shared computer (eg in an internet cafe) it is important to log out, as this also destroys the session cookie, and makes it near impossible for someone else to access your account here at suitorgallery.com.
  2. Persistent Cookies: These store some non personal details.
    • When last logged on to suitorgallery.com
    • an expiry date for the cookies (usually one year)
    • a randomly generated sequence of numbers and letters. This is stored on your computer, and on our site. When you browse our site, we read this sequence and see if we can match it to one on our system.

Persistent cookies are used to help us get an idea of when people are browsing the site, even when they're not logged in. This helps us plan and provide better levels of service.

No personally identifiable information is stored in either type of cookie.

Access

Access and Mobility Issues

Most of our business is wheelchair friendly. Most of the retail area is accessible and all staff are happy to hand down any products that are out of reach, whether the guest is fully or partly able.

We have spaces in the tearoom which are accessible by chair with adequate seating for both able bodied and chair users, and access to the disabled toilets is straightforward. We welcome people of all abilities, and if there is any further way that we can help, or if you have any other suggestions for how we can stay more pleasurable , please dont hesitate to say.

How to use this site

You don't actually need to log on, until you want to buy something.

However, if you are browsing from computer at home, there is no reason not to log in and never log out, as we run a fully secure site. That way, you have access to your account.

If browsing from a shared computer (eg internet cafe, or one at a friends house) you only need to log in when you want to take something to checkout for purchase. (You will be prompted to log in automatically). When finished shopping make sure to log out, and close the browser if on a shared computer.

We would recommend that you register an account here, and your basket will remain for 1 year, rather than 4 hours.

You can register by clicking here if you don't already have an account. Registration only takes a moment.  A valid email address and a username is all that's required , but for reasons of security we need to confirm your identity by sending you an email, to which you must respond in order to activate the account. Either on the catalog pages, where lots of products are listed, click the 'Add to Basket' button and one will be added to your basket. If the product has variations, you will be taken to the product page to choose which you would like.

All browsers (as far as I know) have this enabled by default. If you need to check whether yours has, you'll need to refer to your browser help section to find out how. This is usually found on the top menu bar of your browser, on the right hand side.

We've tried to make this site as easy to navigate as possible.

If you move your cursor (you might call it a pointer) over one of the main menu items in the blue bar that runs across the site under our logo, you should see a dropdown list of subcategories.

You can either:-

  • (Left) Click on the 'top level menu item' eg 'Trollbeads' or 'Home Living', and a new page will load showing all the subcategories for this, and listing all the individual products in this section, or;
  • Once the dropdown list has appeared, if you move your cursor to the menu item for the desired subcategory and click, a new page will load showing that subcategory. All items for this category will be displayed (and also any subcategories)

If you get lost, or end up in the wrong category there are a number of ways of 'backing up:-

  1. Click on the back button on your browser (That would be aleft pointing arrow on the left of your browser window)
  2. Use the 'Breadcrumb' This is the text that runs across under the blue menu bar

    Clicking on 'Nicholas Mosse', as shown above, would load a new page with all Nicholas Mosse products, not just the 'Standard Designs'.

  3. Clicking on any of the terms further to the left will show all the products for that subcategory, just like the navigation menu works. Easy!

At any point you can just click on the Suitor Gallery logo, and this will take you back to the start page.

Your Account

Just click on the 'Forgot Password?' link on the right side of the grey bar at the top of the page to begin a password reset process.

Your username is the one you entered when you registered.

However, if you find it easier to remember, you can alternatively use your email address to log in.

If you do not have account here, you're missing out!

To register, just click on the 'Create new account' link on the right of the grey bar at the very top of this window.

  • You'll be asked for a username and a valid email address.
  • When you submit this form, by clicking 'Create new account', we'll send you an email to the email address you provided.
  • As a matter of fraud reduction and prevention of identity theft, you must follow the instructions on the email to activate your account.

Ordering

We're very flexible here. Even if you haven't placed an order before, you may have registered an account.

  1. Find the items you want.
  2. When you see something you would like to buy, click the 'Add to Basket' button. You can change quantities later, or delete it altogether. You will see the item displayed in the 'My Basket' Pane on the top right of the page.
  3. When you've got everything you want click 'Checkout' on the 'My Basket' Pane.
  4. You will be asked to 'Sign in' or to 'Create an accont' if you haven't got one already. (If you're already Signed in, this step will be skipped)
  5. You will then be asked for a delivery address (if this is your first order; if this is not your first order, choose the address you previously supplied from the 'Saved Addresses field) Note that this address must be the address that the card is registered to
  6. Choose a delivery method. Depending on the value of your purchase and delivery destination, standard delivery may be free, but you may choose an express service at additional cost.
  7. Enter payment details.
  8. Confirm your purchase.

There are many possibilities as to why this might happen.

The easiest solution is, if In store hours, just give us a ring and we'll complete your purchase off line. If we are out of store hours, just log out and ring us when we are open next.

When you enter checkout, an order is created, which we can find when you ring us.

Payment & Security

No, for your security and ours, we do not take cheques as a form of payment.

Cards provide a quick and safe method of payment for online transactions, for both us and you. Using a card to pay is more secure, and covered by most financial institutions against fraud, in the event the card details are stolen by some third party, or you lose your card, and report it within 24 hours.

If you don't wish to use you card details online, we are perfectly happy for you to take your basket to checkout and then ring us to carry out the transaction offline. All you need are your card details and the cardholders address.

if the time is within normal opening hours, just give us a ring with your card details and cardholder address.

If it's outside normal opening hours, just log out from the point you are at in the checkout, and give us a ring when we're open next, with your card details and cardholder address.

Once you take some goods to checkout, a 'pending order' is entered on our system. When you ring us, we can identify this pending order, and complete the order offline.

Note that goods are not taken out of stock until payment has been made, so best to ring us earlier rather than later, to avoid disappointment.

CVV stands for Card Verification Value. This is a 3 digit code which is found on the back of your card (usually to the right of the signature strip), or with American Express on the front of the card (usually top right).

The purpose of the CVV is an extra security check. The CVV is not magnetically encoded anywhere on the card, therefore it does not get printed on sales receipts.

It is the intent of the card companies that you should never actually hand over your card to shop staff any more. They should present you with the card reader, and the card never leaves your hands or sight. If this procedure is followed, the shop staff will never get your CVV.

Therefore, the CVV is a level of proof that have the card present with you, and as such is an important anti fraud measure.

We can not complete a transaction where the customer is not present, without a CVV, irrespective of whether you use the web site or contact us directly.

All card payments are processed through our online payment partner, Paypal, which ensures seamless security and speed, from the start of the payment process to it's completion.

We take security very seriously, irrespective of whether you are just casually browsing the site, or if you want to buy some of the wide range of beautiful products here.

  • We use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) on all pages which are used for gathering, displaying or transmitting personal information, or any other information which is required to be secure.
    • For example, the login, registration, contact form, cart and checkout are all secured such that transmission of all personal details between your browser and suitorgallery.com is fully ssl encrypted.
    • Catalogue and individual product pages are not secured (and do not need to be), and this improves site response times, since the encryption of this data by our server, and decryption of the data by your browser would take a significant amount of time, thus making the site appear 'slow'.
  • Our shopping cart system (in combination with the secure site setup) is PCI-DSS compliant. This is a standard set of security protocols required by financial institutions to facilitate the safe storage and processing of all financial information.
  • No card details are stored on this site, outside the duration required to pass them to our online payment processor.
Delivery Help and Info

Delivery cost is calculated both on a flatrate for NI, ROI and UK as per table below, but also on a weight basis, when you take your basket to the checkout.

You will be presented with one or more shipping methods, and you should carefully check the prices and estimated times for each before deciding on a shipping method. Prices take both weight and value of the order into consideration, and allow a very small amount for packaging (For environmental reasons we try to recycle all packaging we receive, and this also helps keep the cost you pay as low as possible). Otherwise shipping quotes are at 'near cost' price.

For overseas shoppers, we did look at surface shipping (very long shipping times) but the saving was minimal, so we decided to stick with Airmail services. If, however, there was a very heavy item you wanted, we are happy to get you the best quote we can on an individual basis.

Prices are VAT inclusive within the EU (currently at 20%).

We constantly revise our shipping methods to ensure best value and service for all our customers, whether on our doorstep or far flung climes.

If your country is not displaying any shipping methods (most likely because it is outside the list above), please contact us and we will arrange a quote, or we may choose to review postage costs to your country with a view to inlcuding it to or list of destinations.

Please note that some items cannot be shipped to (some) international destinations, since they are either too heavy, or too fragile. Please feel free to ask for a quote if this may be the case. We're only too happy to try and facilitate you.

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the present time, although we are exploring this possibility with our bank.

The main reason for this is that anti-fraud measures only cover delivery to the card holders confirmed address.

There is no fixed time for this, but if we don't hear from you with 1-2 weeks we aim to contact you as a reminder.

If you know you can't collect it for a number of weeks, it would be an idea to let us know.

As an alternative to delivery (and compulsory for some products which cannot be delivered) you can collect your products at the Suitor Gallery.

Many of our customers don't live locally, but would be planning on stopping with us for coffee and scones at some point in the coming few weeks, and therefore can pick up goods.

We don't mind holding them for you once they are paid for, but it is a good idea to check that we're open when you are planning to call with us.

Some of the products we sell and too fragile to use retail delivery methods. The chances of them being damaged in transit is too high, and very likely they cannot be insured for transit.

You can still order these items but must collect them from the Suitor Gallery.

When the package is dispatched, you will be emaiied with confirmation, which will include the delivery agent (eg Royal Mail) and a package tracking number.

With this information you can track your package on the delivery agent's website.

If you have any queries about deliveries, don't hesitate to contact us directly. We're here to get you your stuff as quickly as possible.

Products that are in stock are dispatched immediately, but this is subject to operational conditions of the agents delivering this order. In any case, except for holiday periods, products in stock are dispatched within 24 hours.

In the case of Royal Mail, for example;

  • orders before 3pm Tuesday-Friday are dispatched same day
  • orders before 11am on Saturday are dispatched same day
  • orders made on Sunday and Monday, are dispatched the following Tuesday, but we may dispatch them on Monday (when we are normally closed, but we may be in store carrying out other tasks)

 

Returns & Refunds

We always try and facilitate our customers, no matter what the circumstances of your return may be.

A reasonable time period in which we would allow cancellation of order in this case would be 7 days + 3 days in lieu of delivery delay. Note that when you have paid for the goods in full, with an understanding that you will collect them, we are acting out of courtesy in holding your property.

Therefore, we feel that about 10 days is reasonable, but feel free to contact us and ask. We're always here to help

Contact us immediately for a refund or exchange (subject to availability).

We need to receive the product back before a refund or exchange is made.

Under distance selling regulations, you have a the right to return an item (or items) for seven days starting on the first attempt to deliver those goods.

The product must be in 'saleable' condition, with the packaging intact, so be careful when you are unpacking it.

There are some exclusions in the distance selling regulations:-

  • Cosmetics and Foodstuffs are excluded, whether or not the seal has been broken.
  • Items that have been customised (eg engraved) are excluded.
  • Any other product, which, in normal use, is designed to come in contact with the mouth, nose or inner ear. (eg earrings)
  • Software and other media.
